It's not entirely clear who was clamoring for more movies in the G.I. Joe franchise, but if it gives us Henry Golding looking intense while wielding a katana in the rain, it's hard to get mad about it.
Snake Eyes is the origin story for the super-mysterious eponymous commando and martial arts master of the G.I. Joe team. Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, A Simple Favor) replaces Ray "Darth Maul" Park, who played the (silent) role in the previous G.I. Joe films.
While this minute-long trailer — more of a teaser, really — doesn't give us much new information about the character, it does give us Golding fighting with a sword on top of a car, fighting with a gun from inside a car, looking concerned while serious men explain things ominously, and contemplating Snake Eyes' trademark visor.
